Two cuts cover most of what people buy. Open-front abayas are worn over a kurta or inner dress and are simpler to layer. Closed-front and A-line styles need nothing underneath and hold their shape through a long day, which is why front-pleated A-lines are the usual pick for office and travel.

Detailing runs from plain through to floral stonework embroidery, beaded front panels, and contrast multi-line piping along the placket.
